Bhopal, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has targeted the BJP government led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday, making serious allegations of corruption within the state's administration.
Jitu Patwari, the chief of the state’s Congress unit, spoke to IANS on Wednesday, claiming that a powerful network of middlemen is operating within the Madhya Pradesh Secretariat in Bhopal, influencing project decisions and fund allocations.
Patwari emphasized that as the Opposition, the Congress aims to express its concerns to capture the Chief Minister's attention and ensure prompt transparency in Madhya Pradesh's governance.
The Congress official did not hold back in criticizing other ministers in Mohan Yadav's Cabinet, suggesting that the governance model has devolved into a “commission system,” where it is nearly impossible to carry out public work without resorting to bribes.
He advised Chief Minister Yadav to conduct surprise inspections undercover to identify these commission agents embedded in various state departments.
“This issue transcends mere allegations and counter-allegations; it is a grave matter that requires attention. As a responsible Opposition, the Congress has consistently highlighted this issue. I would be willing to accompany the CM on an inspection of any department,” Patwari remarked.
In a fierce critique, Patwari further condemned the BJP for damaging Madhya Pradesh’s reputation, referencing scandals such as Vyapam, nursing fraud, recruitment scandals, and instances of financial mismanagement.
He accused the BJP of devising novel tactics for corruption while promoting an “immoral and unethical” political atmosphere.
Patwari declared that Madhya Pradesh has unfortunately become synonymous with corruption.
“If you search on Google for the most corrupt state, Madhya Pradesh appears at the top,” Patwari insisted. He claimed that even as the Congress attempts to play a constructive role as the Opposition, the BJP-led administration operates with a mindset steeped in deceit and revenge.
