Bhopal, Jan 24 (NationPress) A day after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav returned from the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, State Congress Chief Jitu Patwari announced on Saturday that he has sought a meeting with the Chief Minister to review the results of the three-day visit to Switzerland.
Patwari sent a letter to Chief Minister Yadav, indicating his intent to discuss the investment outcomes, accomplishments from foreign visits, and serious apprehensions regarding administrative corruption.
In a seemingly critical tone, the State Congress Chief welcomed the Chief Minister, stating, "Congratulations and best wishes on your return to India from Davos. I hope the goals you have established for investment, employment, and industrial growth in Madhya Pradesh will translate into tangible outcomes."
He added, "The results of government-funded tours undertaken by the people of Madhya Pradesh should be disclosed to enhance public trust and convey a message of transparency to investors."
In his correspondence, Patwari criticized the BJP-led state government over media reports citing pointed remarks on corruption made by State Chief Secretary Anurag Jain during a recent Collector–Commissioner conference.
He remarked, "This statement, along with the 'complaint of corruption', serves as compelling evidence of corruption within the state's administration. If Collectors are accepting bribes to fulfill their duties, then ordinary citizens' grievances, the execution of government schemes, permits, payments, contracts, and relief efforts will become mired in a system of quid pro quo."
Patwari clarified that he did not address the Chief Minister merely for criticism, but to advocate for transparency in the system.
"Thus, I kindly request that you allocate time for a meeting so I can present my recommendations to combat this epidemic of corruption and commission. I look forward to your affirmative response and a scheduled time for the meeting," he concluded.
The controversy surrounding alleged corruption has sparked political tension in Madhya Pradesh, with the Congress party portraying the incident as indicative of entrenched systemic corruption.
However, the Public Relations Department of the Madhya Pradesh government issued a statement on Friday, declaring the media report as "incorrect" and "baseless."
