Bhopal, July 18 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari on Friday fiercely criticized Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, asserting that the CM lacks authority over the state's bureaucratic machinery, claiming that district collectors are managing the administration independently.
During a press conference, Patwari stated that numerous bureaucrats overlook the Chief Minister’s orders due to alleged financial transactions made for their transfers and postings.
“If collectors are investing significant amounts to secure their transfers, why would they heed the Chief Minister or any minister?” Patwari questioned.
This statement emerged amid a scandal involving Bhind District Collector Sanjeev Srivastava, who reportedly slapped a student during an exam inspection.
The incident took place on April 1 at Pandit Deendayal College in Latampura, Bhind, but gained attention only after a video was shared on social media.
Srivastava was evaluating the center following allegations of cheating and allegedly discovered a student, Rohit Rathore, with a question paper outside the exam hall. When the student failed to answer questions, the collector reportedly slapped him and expelled him from the exam.
Rohit subsequently filed a complaint through his lawyer, Narendra Choudhary, asserting he was assaulted without being given a chance to speak.
Nevertheless, after the video of the incident went viral on July 12, the student returned to the police station and retracted his complaint, expressing he did not desire legal action against the collector. He also met with Srivastava to reaffirm his stance.
The police confirmed the retraction, yet advocate Choudhary informed the media that the student might have acted under duress.
In response to the detention of a Bangladeshi national in Bhopal, the Congress leader highlighted that the BJP has been in power at the Centre for 11 years and has governed Madhya Pradesh for more than two decades. Despite this, infiltrators continue to reside here undetected. What is the government doing?
