Should Chief Minister Mohan Yadav Dismiss Three Ministers Ahead of the MP Budget Session?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Feb 12 (NationPress) The President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, Jitu Patwari, sent a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday, urging the prompt dismissal of three senior cabinet ministers from the government prior to the commencement of the state Assembly's Budget session on February 16.
The letter criticizes the BJP-led government for disregarding public sentiment, cultivating arrogance, and providing cover for ministers entangled in serious controversies and administrative failures.
In his correspondence, Patwari emphasized that Madhya Pradesh should be a democratically managed state, where every governance entity is obliged to uphold democratic principles, ethical standards, and constitutional laws.
He expressed concern that the government's actions seem to contradict public sentiment, leading to an atmosphere of anarchy, arrogance, and hubris.
As the Budget session approaches, which will include the Governor's address, Patwari criticized the expected speech for presenting “inflated statistics” while the state grapples with a severe economic crisis and escalating debt, to which the government appears indifferent.
Patwari pointed out the presence of ministers whose effectiveness is now under scrutiny due to serious allegations; he stated that Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah faces significant accusations of disrespecting the nation's daughter and the Indian Army through derogatory remarks directed at Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a key officer during Operation Sindoor.
This controversy has resulted in multiple apologies from Shah, interventions from the Supreme Court, and ongoing legal investigations, according to Patwari.
Moreover, State Health Minister (and Deputy Chief Minister) Rajendra Shukla is linked to the unfortunate deaths of numerous children in Chhindwara due to poisonous cough syrup contaminated with harmful substances like diethylene glycol, which Congress attributes to governmental negligence and has called for a CBI inquiry, Patwari indicated.
Additionally, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya is accused of failing to ensure access to clean drinking water in his constituency, amid recent water contamination incidents in Indore that have led to numerous deaths and widespread illness due to sewage contamination in supply lines.
Patwari termed it “extremely unfortunate and shameful” that despite offenses against the Army, loss of innocent lives, and administrative failures, these ministers remain in office. This situation, he argued, raises significant questions about the government’s morality, sensitivity, and accountability.
Highlighting this moment as a test of CM Yadav's moral integrity, responsibility, and leadership, Patwari urged the Chief Minister to remove the ministers before the Governor's address to honor public sentiment. Failing to act would convey a clear message that the government tacitly supports dishonesty, immorality, and disrespect towards the nation's daughters and the Indian Army, he cautioned.
The Chief Minister has yet to respond to the letter.
