Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, March 24 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh is set to visit the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi temple located in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, on March 26.
This marks his inaugural trip to Ayodhya since the completion of the Ram temple, following the Supreme Court's ruling.
His office in Bhopal confirmed to IANS that he plans to take an Air India flight from Delhi in the morning of March 26.
After offering his prayers at the temple dedicated to Lord Ram, he intends to travel by road to Lucknow.
It remains uncertain whether his spouse, former journalist Amrita Rai, will join him on this occasion, with his office suggesting he will likely travel alone.
In 2021, Digvijaya Singh made a contribution of ₹1,11,111 towards the temple's construction, directing the funds to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
He had previously expressed his intention to visit for prayers once the temple was fully constructed.
“With the major construction nearing completion, he is here to honor his commitment,” stated his office.
In the meantime, BJP MLA from Bhopal, Rameshwar Sharma, who is known for his critiques of Digvijaya Singh regarding Lord Ram, has made a pointed comment regarding the visit.
He urged Digvijaya during his visit to the Ram temple to also pay respects to the martyrs who faced violence in 1992.
Sharma further remarked that had political leaders recognized this reality earlier, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya would have been established long ago.
He concluded by stating, “As you pray today before the very Ram Lalla whom your party once labeled as fictional, recognize and acknowledge that Ram Lalla is not an illusion, but a tangible entity.”
