Kochi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Malayalam actor Dileep has signaled his intention to pursue new legal measures following his acquittal by the trial court concerning the high-profile 2017 actress assault case. This comes as the Kerala government has declared its plan to contest the verdict in the High Court.
In a passionate response to the ruling, Dileep expressed his desire for an investigation into what he termed a 'conspiracy' behind his involvement in the case.
He accused the investigative team of misleading even the Chief Minister and claimed he was wrongly accused as a scapegoat by certain individuals for their own benefit.
Dileep revealed that he would take further legal actions after acquiring a copy of the court’s ruling.
In a controversial statement, he asserted that the scheme to frame him was initiated by actress Manju Warrier, his former spouse.
He referenced her comments at the AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) event at Durbar Hall Ground, where she emphasized the need to uncover the conspiracy behind the actress's attack.
Dileep contended that it was shortly after this speech that he found himself accused in the case.
Manju Warrier has yet to respond to these claims.
Supporting Dileep, his attorney B. Raman Pillai alleged that a senior police official had colluded to falsely accuse the actor.
He specifically named ADGP B. Sandhya, who oversaw the investigation, accusing her of orchestrating the plot.
Dileep also claimed that certain criminal elements within the police fabricated false narratives using inmates in an attempt to ruin his life and career.
Meanwhile, the state government has confirmed its intent to appeal the trial court's decision that cleared Dileep after nearly eight years of legal battles.
Ministers reiterated their commitment to support the survivor and expressed their refusal to accept the trial court's ruling in a case with significant political and social implications.
Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, V.D. Satheesan, noted that without the intervention of the late P.T. Thomas, the case might not have persisted.
Former state Police chief T.P. Senkumar remarked that he had indicated as early as 2017 that Dileep was not accused based on credible evidence.
“Is it correct to proceed with an investigation by first arresting someone, and then attempting to fabricate evidence against them, even creating false narratives for that purpose?” questioned Senkumar.
