Chennai, June 2 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan launched a fierce critique against the DMK after its general council meeting in Madurai. He accused the party of indulging in dynastic theatrics and utilizing diversionary tactics to conceal its shortcomings.
Referring to the gathering as a "coronation ceremony," Murugan claimed that the DMK organized it mainly to confirm that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s son would take over party leadership.
During the general council meeting on Sunday, the DMK passed 27 resolutions.
“It was a political performance aimed at elevating the ‘prince’ and placating junior leaders who behave like local feudal lords,” he remarked.
The minister criticized the resolutions adopted by the DMK, particularly those aimed at attacking the Central government, labeling them as ploys to divert attention from the state administration’s inadequate performance and pervasive corruption.
“This exemplifies classic boogeyman politics — when there’s nothing substantial to showcase, create an adversary,” he stated.
He accused the DMK of having no moral authority to discuss issues like caste-based census, education policy, or federalism. “What actions did they take when they were part of the UPA government? None. Today, they chant empty slogans while aligning with Congress, the very party that stripped education from state control,” he asserted.
Murugan also dismissed the DMK’s claims regarding matters like the Waqf Act, Hindi imposition, and Katchatheevu, arguing the party was leveraging these issues to distract from ongoing corruption investigations.
“If you’re innocent, why fear scrutiny by the ED or IT? Justice will prevail,” he stated.
He challenged the credibility of the resolution to commemorate Karunanidhi’s birthday as Classical Tamil Day, suggesting it diminished Tamil pride to mere familial inheritance.
“For the DMK, Tamil Nadu is Karunanidhi Nadu,” he commented.
Criticizing the party for its selective outrage, Murugan highlighted the DMK’s silence on sexual abuse incidents in state institutions as inconsistent. He concluded with a strong political message: “The citizens of Tamil Nadu are ready for transformation. In 2026, the AIADMK-BJP alliance will achieve a historic victory, ending this era of corrupt, dynastic governance.”
