Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Gandhinagar, Dec 24 (NationPress) The women-oriented initiatives implemented by the Central government, in partnership with state administrations, are creating a significant transformation in the lives of women nationwide, both in rural and urban areas.
In the Aravalli district of Gujarat, the positive impact of women-centric programs is clear as local women leverage government welfare initiatives to achieve self-sufficiency.
Numerous self-help groups (SHGs) have launched projects, ranging from agricultural ventures to local enterprises, to enhance their household income. Their achievements are not only fostering self-reliance among women but also instilling hope in many others.
Thanks to various initiatives from the Central and state governments, such as the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Tribal Area Sub-Plan, and MNREGA, a multitude of rural women have gained training and financial support to attain independence.
In Bathiwada village within Meghraj taluka, members of the Dashama Sakhi Mandal received training in kite production and are now earning a living by crafting kites.
In Valuna village, organic farming techniques were revived through the Sahas Kisan Atma Project Mandal, where women's groups were provided with a greenhouse and a seed storage facility by the government.
Moreover, another SHG, Shivshakti Gram Sangathan, specializes in producing traditional pickles and papads using local ingredients.
In total, there are approximately 8000 women's SHGs in Aravalli, with around 5000 actively participating. The District Rural Development Agency and local officials regularly organize camps in villages to offer training and financial aid to these women's groups.
The empowerment and self-sufficiency witnessed among these rural women in Gujarat, facilitated by government schemes, is both inspiring and groundbreaking.
Countless rural women who once relied on others for financial support are now gaining economic independence and contributing to their families through their relentless efforts and determination.
