Etawah, April 12 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, a woman was heinously murdered due to a financial conflict over land.

The remains of Anjali, a 28 to 30-year-old widow and mother of two, were discovered in a disfigured condition on Saturday near the Chambal river. She had been unaccounted for the previous five days.

As per police reports, the suspect even placed a video call post-murder to display the victim’s body to his father and wife.

Earlier, on Thursday, Anjali's charred scooter was located in a drain close to the ITI crossing in the Civil Lines police station area.

Despite the family’s repeated pleas to the Friends Colony and Civil Lines police stations, “no substantial action was initially taken.”

As tensions heightened, a case of abduction alongside charges under the SC/ST Act was filed at the Civil Lines police station against Shivendra, Surendra, and Gaurav.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Verma stated that after receiving the missing complaint, a specialized investigation team was established, consisting of SP City, CO City, Kotwali police, and a surveillance unit.

During the inquiry, the suspects - Shivendra alias Surendra and his accomplice Gaurav - were apprehended for questioning.

While being interrogated, both admitted to the crime. They disclosed that Anjali had been persistently demanding her money back, which provoked them to invite her over, force her to consume alcohol, and subsequently strangle her to death using a gamchha (towel).

Later that night, they disposed of her body off a bridge into the Yamuna River.

With the information provided by the suspects, police and NDRF teams initiated a search operation and successfully retrieved the body.

The family confirmed the deceased's identity as Anjali. The police also recovered the gamchha used for strangulation, the Tata vehicle involved in the crime, and the burnt scooter.

Shivendra alias Surendra and Gaurav have been arrested, with legal proceedings for their detention currently in progress.

As the case is classified under the SC/ST Act, the investigation is being supervised by an officer at the Circle Officer (CO) level, ensuring that appropriate legal measures are taken.
