Gurugram, April 14 (NationPress) A team from the crime branch of the Gurugram Police has apprehended a man for allegedly murdering his live-in partner on March 11, as reported by police on Monday.
The suspect has been identified as Shiv Shankar Sharma, also known as Kali Charan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, while the victim is recognized as Rita, hailing from Bihar.
According to police, on March 11, they received information about a woman's body discovered in the village of Naharpur.
An official stated that upon receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene, where they found the woman’s body wrapped in a blanket in a field.
“The police team examined the scene with the help of crime scene investigators and fingerprint analysts, and subsequently stored the body in the mortuary for a postmortem and identification,” he added.
On March 31, the father of the deceased identified her as his daughter, Rita, who had been living in rented accommodation in Naharpur village, Manesar. He informed police that his daughter had been married 11 years prior.
“Approximately five years ago, Rita and her husband moved to Naharpur and began renting a place while working locally. After a conflict, her husband abandoned her there. Following this, she entered into a relationship with a man named Shiv Shankar, alias Kali Charan,” he disclosed to the police.
The official further noted that the woman’s body was discovered in the fields.
“The father suspects that Shiv Shankar, alias Kali Charan, is responsible for his daughter’s murder,” police stated.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under the appropriate sections at Police Station Manesar, Gurugram.
“During the investigation, the police arrested the accused on Monday in Naharpur. Initial inquiries revealed that the suspect was in a relationship with Rita,” he mentioned.
He noted that the accused was employed as a laborer, while Rita worked for a company in IMT Manesar.
Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram Police, indicated that the accused suspected Rita of having an affair with another individual, which led him to allegedly murder her on February 23 and discard her body in a wheat field.
He added that the accused will be presented in court for further questioning and is currently in police custody.
