Gurugram, May 8 (NationPress) Two individuals have been apprehended on charges of murdering a 33-year-old woman, whose body was found stuffed inside a suitcase and discarded along the Gurugram-Faridabad road, according to police statements made on Thursday.
The suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday.
The incident was uncovered after a passerby noticed the suitcase.
The authorities were notified, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) concerning the murder at the Sushant Lok police station in Gurugram.
The victim has been identified as Praveen alias Riya (33), hailing from the village Parksarkas in District Tiljala, West Bengal.
The accused have been named as Dinesh Kumar (22), who resides in village Indri, Rampur district, Uttar Pradesh, and Viplav Vishwas (26), from village Pratappur, Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand.
Both suspects were reportedly living in Sikanderpur village, Gurugram.
A team from the Crime Branch of Sector 40, led by Inspector Amit Kumar, apprehended the duo from the Sector 40 area on Wednesday, as per police reports.
During questioning, it was revealed that on May 2, Dinesh met Riya near Sikanderpur Metro Station in Gurugram.
“Dinesh invited the woman to his rented accommodations in Sikanderpur, where they both consumed alcohol. A dispute arose between them regarding a financial transaction. In a fit of rage, Dinesh smothered Riya to death,” stated a spokesperson for the Gurugram Police.
In the early hours of May 3, Dinesh, with Viplav's assistance, concealed Riya’s body in a suitcase and disposed of it, the police spokesperson disclosed.
Dinesh is employed at a medical store in Gurugram, while Viplav serves as a personal driver in DLF Phase-3, Gurugram. Both lived independently in separate rooms within the same building in Sikandarpur village.
Previously, the Gurugram Police had offered a reward of Rs 25,000 for any information leading to the identification of the body.
The investigation is ongoing.
