Gurugram, Feb 1 (NationPress) The police in Gurugram have taken two individuals into custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 46-year-old man. The victim was reportedly demanding the return of Rs 30,000 that he had lent to one of the suspects.
The deceased has been identified as Rakesh, who resided in Mahavir Enclave, Palam Delhi.
The suspects are identified as Avnish Kumar and Bobby Kumar, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, on January 23, they were alerted about a body discovered in an abandoned plot in the village of Binola, Gurugram.
Upon receiving the tip-off, a police team along with forensic specialists and fingerprint analysts arrived at the scene to gather evidence.
“The Sarpanch of Binola informed the police on January 23 that during his morning walk, he stumbled upon a body in a vacant lot. The deceased had visible neck injuries, indicating foul play. Following this report, a case was initiated under applicable legal provisions at the Bilaspur Police Station in Gurugram,” stated Sandeep Kumar, a spokesperson for the Gurugram Police.
In the course of the investigation, a team from the crime branch in Manesar apprehended the suspects on Friday and placed them under police custody.
Interrogation revealed that Avnish was employed as a rider at Good Food Store Company located in Sector-53, Gurugram, while the victim served as a cashier at the same establishment.
“Avnish borrowed Rs 30,000 from Rakesh during Diwali, promising to repay it within a month. However, when Avnish failed to make the payment, he and his accomplice Bobby, a taxi driver, devised a plot to eliminate Rakesh. On the night of January 22, they contacted Rakesh under the pretense of repaying him and lured him to Shankar Chowk. They then transported him to Panchgaon Chowk, where they strangled him with a cloth, disposed of his body in an abandoned plot in Binola, and fled the scene,” Kumar explained.
The police have successfully recovered the vehicle used in the commission of this crime from the suspects.
