Gurugram, May 1 (NationPress) The Gurugram Police announced on Thursday the arrest of a man from Uttarakhand, accused of murdering his live-in partner after she insisted on marriage. Mustaq Ahmed (31), a resident of Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand, has been identified as the suspect.
The victim, Pooja Mondal, 35, was reported missing by her sister, who lodged a complaint at the Sector-5 police station in December. Following an extensive investigation, authorities discovered that Pooja had been living with Mustaq in Gurugram.
During interrogation, Mustaq admitted to killing Pooja on November 16 in Nandan Nanhar village, Uttarakhand. Following his confession, police recovered her decomposed body from beneath a bridge in Nanda Canal village.
Mustaq, who previously worked as a taxi driver, met Pooja while she was caring for her mother. The couple had lived together in Gurugram for two years. He disclosed that after marrying someone else in November 2024, tensions arose between him and Pooja. After she pressured him for marriage, he took her life and disposed of her body in the canal before fleeing to Mangalore, Karnataka, and then back to Uttarakhand.
