Faridabad, Nov 10 (NationPress) In a significant development, a collaborative effort by the Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the Haryana Police has led to the seizure of approximately 350 kilograms of explosives, believed to be ammonium nitrate. This operation also uncovered a Krinkov assault rifle along with various other arms and ammunition in Faridabad, officials disclosed on Monday.
Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta stated that the explosives were found with 20 timers and four battery timers. Additionally, an assault rifle, 83 live rounds, a pistol, two magazines, and numerous other weapons were also retrieved during this significant operation.
Commissioner Gupta mentioned that this operation was executed in close collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and has been ongoing for several days.
"The operation is being carried out jointly with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and is still in progress," he stated.
However, he chose not to disclose further specifics, citing the ongoing investigation's sensitivity.
"We have been focusing on an anti-terror module, thus I cannot provide additional details due to national security issues," the Police Commissioner added.
This incident follows the recent arrest of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri physician from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who was detained for allegedly posting support for the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.
After Rather's disclosures during questioning, police conducted multiple raids in Faridabad, leading to the discovery of the stored explosives and arms with another doctor identified as Mujammil.
Mujammil, who hails from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, is employed at AL Falah Medical College and Hospital in Faridabad and has also been arrested in connection with the investigation.
Officials reported that he had been residing in a rented accommodation in Faridabad's Dhoj area for over three and a half years.
Mujammil was apprehended by police ten days ago after substantial evidence linking him to Jaish-e-Mohammed was uncovered.
Based on Mujammil's information, Faridabad police seized a Swift car, which reportedly belongs to a female doctor affiliated with Al-Falah Hospital. The Krinkov assault rifle was confiscated from this vehicle, according to police.
Commissioner Gupta further noted that investigations are in progress to determine the origin and intended use of the seized explosives and weaponry.
"The origins of these weapons and their arrival here remain under investigation," he mentioned.
Officials stated that both detained doctors are being interrogated to identify potential connections with any terrorist organizations or sleeper cells operating in northern India.
The alarming seizure of such a vast quantity of explosives and sophisticated weaponry raises significant security concerns, particularly as the winter season approaches, a time when militant activities often escalate.
Security agencies are now on high alert, with intelligence sharing taking place across states to thwart any potential threats arising from this module.
