Patna, Dec 8 (NationPress) A shocking extortion case has emerged in Patna, where a notorious gangster has reportedly demanded Rs 5 crore from a well-known builder in the city.

The individual accused is the infamous ex-policeman-turned-gangster Lali Singh, also known as Ved Nidhi, who has gained notoriety for his criminal exploits following his dismissal from the Bihar Police.

An FIR has been filed at the Rupaspur police station concerning this matter. The Rupaspur SHO confirmed that the FIR was registered on December 6, and an investigation is currently underway.

According to the FIR submitted by the builder, he received a threatening phone call at 8:10 PM on December 4, 2025.

Upon inquiring about the caller’s identity, the individual revealed himself as Lali Singh alias Ved Nidhi.

The builder noted that the caller questioned him about purchasing land on the Rupaspur Canal from someone named Vivek alias Chhotu. When the builder confirmed that the land registration was planned for the next day, the caller reportedly demanded Rs 5 crore as extortion money.

After the builder refused to comply, he was threatened with severe repercussions. The caller ominously warned that he would carry out a similar attack on the builder and his partner, akin to the murder of Deepak Mahato in Digha.

The caller further stated, “Do not dismiss this as an idle threat. If you wish, look into my criminal history.”

When the builder cautioned that he would inform law enforcement, the caller chillingly replied, “I was once a police officer myself.”

He subsequently insisted on either paying Rs 5 crore or having half of the land registered in his name, threatening to take action within two days if his demands were not met.

Lali Singh, alias Ved Nidhi, who is a former officer of the Bihar Police, later became an office-bearer in the Bihar Police Men’s Association and was accused of committing robberies while in police uniform.

He was dismissed from service due to criminal charges. His name also surfaced in the notorious Deepak Mahato murder case in Danapur.

The Patna Police have initiated an investigation into the call, the extortion demand, and the criminal activities associated with Ved Nidhi.

Authorities stated that further actions will be taken based on the evidence gathered throughout the investigation.
