Mumbai, April 3 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai has unequivocally stated that he has no intention of remaking his legendary blockbuster 'Karz', which featured the late Rishi Kapoor.

In a recent conversation with IANS, Ghai was queried about his interest in a solid script focused on the theme of reincarnation.

In response, Ghai remarked, "Once I create a film in a specific genre, it doesn't inspire me to revisit it. I am always eager to explore new genres."

With 'Karz' marking its 45th anniversary in Hindi cinema, Ghai expressed that the film remains as vibrant as ever.

He reiterated that he would not consider remaking it, stating, "'Karz' has consistently resonated with me year after year through young audiences, youth in general, and aspiring filmmakers due to its musical narrative, storyline, and performances. It continues to be a cornerstone in our collection of 42 films at Mukta Arts. It's perpetually as fresh as today."

Ghai recollected how, post the film's release in 1980, many remarked that 'Karz' was "far ahead of its time".

"I am thankful to see it still regarded as one of the favorite films in 2025," Ghai added.

When questioned about his willingness to remake the 1980 classic, Ghai firmly stated, "I would not remake it."

Discussing the significant role of music in film, Ghai explained, "The story I conveyed was about reincarnation, crafted with sound and scale that resonates across generations. Audiences are discerning; you cannot deceive them."

Agreeing that music is crucial to 'Karz', the director emphasized, "Exceptional music gives a good film its enduring charm. Therefore, credit belongs to its music, lyrics, and visual presentation, ensuring its timeless appeal."
