New Delhi, July 12 (NationPress) As the auspicious month of Shravan commenced on Friday, the very first day brought challenges for Kanwariyas as some troublemakers in Shahdara, Delhi, allegedly spread glass shards along the Kanwar Yatra route.
Delhi minister Kapil Mishra assured that no disruptions will be tolerated during the Kanwar Yatra.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra shared on the social media platform X, stating, “A group of miscreants in Shahdara, Delhi, scattered glass pieces over a distance of roughly one kilometer on the Kanwar Yatra path. Personnel from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Municipal Corporation are actively clearing the area. Local MLA Sanjay Goyal is on-site.”
He noted that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has acknowledged the incident, and an FIR will be filed against those responsible by the PWD. Kapil Mishra emphasized that the journey of the Kanwariyas will not be disrupted.
Previously, South Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan revealed that the Delhi Police convened a meeting with the Kanwar camp organizers and relevant stakeholders to discuss the guidelines set forth by the Delhi government and the police. “The primary goal of these guidelines is to ensure a safe and smooth journey. We are committed to ensuring that no Kanwariya encounters any issues. We have outlined the entire plan, and additional preparations are underway,” he added.
He mentioned that special measures will be implemented, including the placement of fire extinguishers to avert potential fires in the Kanwar camps. The structures for water distribution will be robust, and cleanliness around the camps will be prioritized. In addition, toilets will be constructed nearby to maintain hygiene. Traffic management will also be a focal point, with camps positioned slightly off the roadway to minimize disruptions and reduce accident risks.
