New Delhi, July 16 (NationPress) Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra conducted an inspection on Wednesday at the Apsara border, focusing on the security and logistical preparations for the Kanwar Yatra pilgrims. He emphasized that the government is well-equipped to ensure the seamless execution of the yatra.
As the auspicious month of Shravan begins, numerous Kanwariyas from all over India embark on their spiritual journey to gather sacred water from the Ganga for the Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva.
This annual Kanwar Yatra has ignited a renewed sense of devotion, with pilgrims journeying to holy sites such as Haridwar, Gaumukh, Gangotri, Ajgaibinath Temple in Sultanganj, and the Sangam in Prayagraj.
During his visit, Mishra was accompanied by Sanjay Goyal, MLA from Shahdara, along with senior officials and representatives from various volunteer organizations.
In an interview with IANS, Mishra mentioned, "The Delhi government is thoroughly prepared. Today, I came to the Delhi border to observe the magnificent welcome gates. Much like those erected during the Maha Kumbh, similar gates are being set up at 17 locations along Delhi's borders."
He elaborated that these gates are named after the 12 Jyotirlingas, with others symbolizing different facets of Mahadev.
"Last year, we established 170 camps. This year, we have increased that number to 374 camps, illustrating the success of the Chief Minister's initiative, which is being embraced widely. We've put in place measures for water supply, traffic management, sanitation, municipal coordination, and medical assistance—everything is being promptly managed. We are ready to welcome Shiva devotees with open arms," he asserted.
Mishra remarked that the entire community in Delhi is joining in to welcome the Kanwariyas. "Should anyone attempt to create disturbances, we are prepared to handle those situations," he stated.
Amid reports of traffic jams on various national highways due to the yatra, the Opposition has raised alarms, particularly citing parallels with restrictions placed on religious gatherings like public namaz.
Responding firmly, Mishra declared, "The Kanwar Yatra will be celebrated with grandeur, regardless of any objections. Festivals like Dusshera, Chhath Puja, Ramleelas, Holi, and Diwali will continue to be celebrated in a magnificent fashion. If someone has an issue, they should find a way to resolve it, as the festivity will only grow."
