Prayagraj, July 12 (NationPress) As the auspicious month of Shravan begins, millions of Kanwariyas from across the nation embark on their spiritual journey to gather sacred water from the Ganga and perform Jalabhishek for Lord Shiva. The annual Kanwar Yatra has sparked a wave of devotion, drawing pilgrims to key sites such as Haridwar, Gaumukh, Gangotri, Sultanganj's Ajgaibinath Temple, and the Sangam in Prayagraj.
In Prayagraj, large contingents of Kanwariyas gathered at Dashashwamedh Ghat to collect Ganga water, marking the start of their journey to various Shiva temples.
The local administration has rolled out comprehensive guidelines to ensure a safe and seamless yatra experience.
Devotees are required to walk strictly on the left side of highways, and 'Bhandaara' camps will be established at least 20 feet away from the road to prevent obstructions and accidents.
Authorities have issued warnings against reckless driving, supplementing this with special advisories aimed at curbing overspeeding.
This year, the safety of women devotees has become a top priority, with officials vowing to take immediate action against any reports of misconduct or inappropriate behavior.
Moreover, hotels and food vendors along the Kanwar routes are under surveillance by the Food Department to combat issues of adulteration and overpricing. Licensed stalls are required to display food prices clearly, fostering transparency and trust among the pilgrims.
Expressing gratitude, Kanwariya Nagesh Shukla told IANS, 'The facilities are excellent, making our journey here much easier. The arrangements along the routes are well-organized, and everything at the ghats is orderly. The government has truly outdone itself.'
He further praised the nameplate initiative, commenting, 'We can now choose any shop without worrying about food adulteration.'
Another Kanwariya remarked, 'Traveling has become much more manageable. A dedicated path has been created for us, and the overall arrangements are commendable. Previously, the system was not as effective.'
Pankaj Kumar shared with IANS, 'We will collect the holy water here and then head to Kashi. The arrangements are superb, and we are facing no challenges.'
He expressed his appreciation for the government, particularly lauding the nameplate initiative that alleviated concerns regarding food safety.
Tirtha priest Hari Om echoed these sentiments, stating to IANS, 'Everything is proceeding smoothly. The arrangements, especially concerning sanitation, are impressive. The Kanwariyas are pleased and voice their satisfaction with the administration's efforts.'
