GOCs of White Knight Corps and Cross Swords Division Assess Security Measures at LoC in J&K
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
In Jammu on April 13, the General Officers Commanding (GOCs) of the Army’s White Knight Corps and Cross Swords Division conducted a visit to the Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir to evaluate their operational readiness and the current security landscape.
According to a statement from the Nagrota-headquartered White Knight Corps on social media platform X, “The GOC of the White Knight Corps, together with the GOC of the Cross Swords Division, assessed the operational preparedness and the existing security framework in the Akhnoor area.”
The visit aimed to critically analyze counter-infiltration strategies, the incorporation of advanced equipment, and overall operational collaboration. The GOC praised the units for their successful adoption and integration of cutting-edge technologies and urged all personnel to maintain a strong, flexible, and responsive counter-infiltration strategy. “The Knight Stands Vigilant… We Serve, We Protect!” he emphasized.
The Army is responsible for securing the 740-kilometer-long Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, which spans the districts of Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri in the Jammu division, as well as Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora in the Kashmir division.
Its primary role is to thwart infiltration, exfiltration, smuggling, and drone operations orchestrated by terrorist organizations with backing from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Drones are frequently employed to deliver arms, ammunition, cash, and narcotics into India. Local operatives associated with these terror groups are tasked with retrieving these deliveries and supplying them to terrorists, thereby perpetuating the cycle of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition, the Border Security Force is engaged in preventing similar activities along the 240-kilometer international border that runs through the Samba, Kathua, and parts of the Jammu district.
Anti-terror operations are conducted in the interior regions by the J&K Police and various security forces.
Security personnel are also vigilant against drug traffickers and those involved in hawala money laundering schemes.
It is widely believed that the financial proceeds from these illicit activities are channeled to support terrorism in the union territory.
