New Delhi, June 18 (NationPress) The government announced on Wednesday that the total revenue accrued from scrap sales during the Swachhata campaign from 2021 to 2025 reached Rs 3,163.97 crore.

From December 2024 to May 2025, Rs 799.92 crore was generated from scrap disposal, as noted in the 22nd edition of the monthly ‘Secretariat Reforms’ report for May 2025 published by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

In May, cleanliness drives were effectively executed at 8,835 locations across the country.

Roughly 3.5 lakh square feet of office space was liberated, with the Ministry of Railways contributing 1,30,180 sq. ft and the Ministry of Coal contributing 76,231 sq. ft.

In May, the revenue from scrap disposal totaled Rs 284.84 crore, with major contributions from ministries including Railways, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Heavy Industries.

Efficient record management resulted in 1,04,941 physical files being assessed, leading to the elimination of 66,186 files last month.

The month also recorded the resolution of 4,57,081 public grievances (with a disposal rate of 89.79 percent), alongside the handling of 1,448 MP references and 320 state government references.

“The implementation of delayering strategies has significantly decreased the average distinct transaction levels for active files from 7.19 in 2021 to 4.17 as of May 2025. Approximately 95.47 percent of all files created in May 2025 are eFiles,” the data indicated.

About 95 percent of the receipts were e-Receipts, with 40 Ministries/Departments achieving a 100 percent e-Files adoption. Additionally, fifteen Ministries/Departments recorded a 100 percent share of e-Receipts for May.

“Inter-ministerial file movements totaled 3,892 files for the month of May, reflecting streamlined administrative processes,” the report stated.

As per the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, these initiatives highlight the government’s ongoing dedication to providing digitally-enabled, transparent, efficient, and citizen-focused governance, aligning with the broader objective of achieving administrative excellence and responsive public administration.
