Gandhinagar, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has declared an expansion of bus services to support passengers traveling during the Holi and Dhuleti festivals.
Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the corporation will introduce an extra 1,300 buses, conducting over 7,500 trips from February 27 to March 5 this year.
The additional services are designed to facilitate transportation for citizens celebrating festivals alongside their families and to provide special arrangements for passengers from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Amreli, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, and Bhuj who are traveling towards Godhra, Dahod, Jhalod, and Chhota Udepur.
Millions of devotees are anticipated to visit Dakor for the 'fuldol' festival and Dwarka for worship. To accommodate this influx, 450 additional buses are designated for 3,500 trips specifically catering to passengers heading to Dwarka and Dakor.
"These extra buses will guarantee smooth travel for devotees and reduce any inconvenience during the festive season," the corporation expressed.
To manage the projected crowds, GSRTC has implemented online booking options.
During the Mahashivratri fair, which occurred from February 11 to 15 at the Bhavnath Mahadev Temple near Girnar in Junagadh district, GSRTC enhanced its transport services to accommodate the influx of pilgrims attending the annual event.
In preparation for this five-day religious gathering, often referred to as a 'Mini Kumbh', GSRTC deployed 195 additional buses and executed over 7,800 trips to support devotees traveling to and from the fairground.
Among these, 80 extra buses were exclusively assigned to the route between Junagadh bus station and the foothills of Bhavnath, while 115 express buses catered to long-distance travelers from neighboring districts.
