The initiatives, launched by the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, include the foundation laying of 35 projects valued at Rs 140.83 crore and the inauguration of another project costing Rs 368.40 crore.

These developments aim to enhance civic infrastructure and elevate public amenities throughout the city.

During his address, Sanghavi announced that 50 electric buses have been designated for Bhavnagar, aimed at making the city's urban transport system more efficient and environmentally friendly.

A modern depot has been established at Adhewada for the operational and maintenance needs of these buses.

He highlighted that Bhavnagar is now the first city in Gujarat to initiate electric bus services under this scheme's second phase.

“These new buses will serve as the lifeline of Bhavnagar,” he remarked, noting that the air-conditioned service would provide respite to commuters during the hot summer months.

Sanghavi extended his appreciation to the Prime Minister on behalf of Bhavnagar's residents.

Additionally, he referenced the recently announced Rs 10,000 crore agricultural relief package, congratulating Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Cabinet Minister Jitu Vaghani.

He also mentioned the recent trade agreement with the United States, which is expected to benefit the diamond and textile industries, thereby creating new opportunities for traders.

Union Minister of State Nimuben Bambhaniya stated that the new bus service would significantly enhance daily travel for citizens and improve connectivity between urban areas and adjacent rural regions.

“A well-organized public transport system will positively impact the lives of people,” she noted, emphasizing that the Union Budget reflects a vision for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.

Vaghani reported that civil and electrical infrastructure worth Rs 18.24 crore has been developed under this initiative.

Approximately Rs 350 crore will be allocated over the next 12 years for the operation and maintenance of the 50 buses, with the Centre granting Rs 103 crore during this timeframe.

He added that fares have been set affordably, with a charge of Rs 10 for travel up to five kilometers.

The service will operate across 17 routes, comprising nine urban and eight suburban routes within a 15-kilometre radius.
