Seoul, March 25 (NationPress) South Korean Acting President, Han Duck-soo, has emphasized the need for comprehensive preparations to ensure timely cooperation with US President Donald Trump's administration on critical matters, which include diplomacy, defense, and the economy, as stated by the presidential office on Tuesday.

Han made this declaration while leading an emergency National Security Council meeting on Monday evening, shortly after being reinstated following the Constitutional Court's decision to overturn his impeachment.

During the session, Han also encouraged officials to "execute the essential national-level policy actions promptly for our national interests and security" and to engage actively with the international community in this context, according to reports by Yonhap news agency.

"The National Security Office within the presidential office should spearhead efforts to maintain a system that guarantees effective information sharing and coordination among ministries engaged in diplomacy and security," he stated.

Previously, on March 24, South Korea's Constitutional Court annulled Prime Minister Han Duck-soo's impeachment, reinstating him as Acting President amid the ongoing crisis concerning suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol's brief declaration of martial law.

The court's eight justices voted 5-1 to dismiss Han's impeachment. Two justices proposed to reject the impeachment motion completely.

This ruling emerged three months after the National Assembly impeached the Prime Minister and then Acting President for his alleged involvement in Yoon's December 3 proclamation of martial law, among other factors.

Four of the five justices who voted to dismiss Han's impeachment acknowledged that there were breaches of the Constitution and the law regarding his decision to postpone the appointment of additional justices to the court but concluded that it did not warrant his removal from office.

However, Justice Chung Kye-sun, the sole justice supporting the impeachment, stated that the violations were "serious" enough to justify his dismissal.

Monday's verdict was closely monitored as a reflection of the court's stance on the allegations raised against Yoon in his impeachment trial.

The court has yet to announce the date for its ruling on Yoon's case.
