Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 2 (NationPress) Renowned Hollywood star Harrison Ford became emotional while delivering a heartfelt address upon receiving the Life Achievement Award at the 2026 Actor Awards.
The 83-year-old actor reminisced about the incredible journey of his extensive career in cinema as he accepted the prestigious award from his friend Woody Harrelson, as reported by ‘People’ magazine.
During his eight-minute speech, Ford remarked, "At times, we create entertainment, at other times, we produce art. Sometimes, we are fortunate enough to achieve both simultaneously, and if we're incredibly lucky, we can also make a living from it.” His words brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience.
He continued, saying, "Achieving success in this industry grants a certain freedom accompanied by the responsibility to support one another, to uplift others whenever possible, and to keep the door ajar for the next aspiring talent, the next lost individual seeking a sense of belonging. I consider myself a fortunate person—fortunate to have discovered my community, fortunate to engage in work that challenges me, and fortunate to still be active in this field. I do not take this for granted. My heartfelt gratitude goes to my colleagues, my incredibly beautiful wife Calista, and my family, who have provided me with love and strength throughout this journey. I also wish to thank SAG-AFTRA for this honor.”
As he concluded his speech, Ford humorously referred to his wife of over 15 years, stating, "This is very encouraging.”
At the beginning of his address, Ford jokingly claimed that he is only “at the halfway point of my career,” and he expressed gratitude toward influential figures like George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, the late casting director Fred Roos, and his former manager Patricia McQueeny for their significant contributions to his success.
Ford's acting career launched in the 1960s, with a breakthrough performance in 1973 as Bob Falfa in American Graffiti. He later gained fame as Han Solo in Star Wars and as archaeologist Indiana Jones in 1981.
