Haryana Governor Remembers Om Prakash Chautala as a Veteran Politician and Visionary Leader

Chandigarh, Dec 20 (NationPress) Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya expressed his profound sadness on Friday regarding the passing of former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala.
In his message of condolence, Governor Dattatraya characterized Chautala as a veteran politician and visionary leader who devoted his life to serving the people of Haryana.
“The contributions made by Om Prakash Chautala towards the progress of Haryana and his dedication to the welfare of its citizens, especially the kisaans (farmers), will be cherished forever. His passing represents a significant loss for the state and its populace,” stated Dattatraya.
Reflecting on his personal interactions with Chautala, the Governor recounted: “During my tenure as the Union Urban Development Minister, Chautala was the Chief Minister of Haryana. He approached me concerning the growth of the National Capital Region.”
“In meetings of the NCR Development Board, where Chautala was also a member, he regularly offered his insightful perspectives and vision for comprehensive development in the region,” the Governor shared.
“Even in his older years, Chautala remained engaged in public life. Just recently, I spoke with his son Abhay Chautala at Raj Bhavan. I inquired about Om Prakash Chautala's health and extended my best wishes,” he mentioned.
Dattatraya communicated with Abhay and conveyed his sincere condolences to the grieving family, praying for strength to help them cope with this irreparable loss.
“May the soul of the departed find eternal peace,” Dattatraya concluded.
The president of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and five-time Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, whose family has been influential in the state's political landscape, particularly in rural areas with significant Jat voter presence, passed away in Gurugram following a cardiac arrest.
The 89-year-old leader experienced a cardiac arrest at home and was taken to Medanta Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to family members, the elderly Chautala will be cremated at Teja Khera in Sirsa district on Saturday afternoon. His body will be available for public homage from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
