Haryana Set to Achieve 13.17 Lakh Metric Tons of Mustard Production

Chandigarh, March 3 (NationPress) Haryana is projected to achieve an impressive 13.17 lakh metric tons of mustard production this year. Additionally, the forecast for sunflower stands at 0.70 lakh metric tons and for summer moong, it is estimated to reach 98,000 metric tons.
The insights were shared during a review session led by State Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi on Tuesday.
The state government has declared that the procurement period for various crops will commence as follows: lentils from March 20 to April 30, mustard from March 28 to May 1, gram from April 1 to May 10, moong from May 15 to June 20, and sunflower from June 1 to June 30.
The meeting emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth, transparent, and farmer-friendly procurement processes throughout the state, as stated in an official announcement.
It was noted that the area designated for the cultivation and yield of essential crops has displayed positive growth trends for the year 2025-26.
The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for mustard has been established at Rs 6,200 per quintal, with grams at Rs 5,875, lentils at Rs 7,000, sunflowers at Rs 7,721, and moong set at Rs 8,768 per quintal.
During the review of past procurement efforts, officials reported that Haryana has consistently ensured effective procurement measures.
In the previous season, 2024-25, over 8.12 lakh metric tons of mustard were successfully procured.
For 2025-26, the procurement process is being refined in accordance with the approvals from the Union government.
The Haryana Chief Secretary reiterated the government’s dedication to protecting farmers' interests and ensuring that every eligible farmer receives the MSP without any hassle.
He instructed all relevant departments to ensure coordination for the smooth, efficient, and transparent execution of procurement operations across Haryana.
Attendees of the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs) Pankaj Agarwal, Principal Secretary (Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department) Rajnarayan Kaushik, Director General (Agriculture and Farmers Welfare) Mukul Kumar, and HAFED Managing Director Shaleen, among other senior officials.
