Chandigarh, May 15 (NationPress) As of May 14, Haryana has successfully procured a remarkable 74.95 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, according to the latest announcement from government officials on Thursday. This acquisition indicates that the state is on track for a record yield this season.
Out of the total, 72.90 lakh metric tonnes has been allocated for the Central government, while 2.05 lakh metric tonnes is designated for the Public Distribution System (PDS). Impressively, 97.40 percent of the wheat has already been lifted across the state.
An official representative provided insights about the procurement process, which commenced on April 1 and is managed by four key agencies: the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, HAFED, Haryana Warehousing Corp, and the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Wheat procurement has involved 468,636 farmers, with a total payment of Rs 16,462.70 crore being directly credited to their bank accounts.
The spokesperson highlighted that in the current season, 41.85 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured in 2022-23, 63.17 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24, 71.50 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25, and the impressive 74.95 lakh metric tonnes in 2025-26, marking a peak over the past four years. This year alone has seen an increase of 3.45 lakh metric tonnes compared to the previous season.
Furthermore, last year saw procurement from 456,606 farmers, while this year, the number has risen to 468,636 farmers, reflecting an encouraging trend.
Additionally, mustard procurement for the Rabi season of 2025-26, conducted by HAFED and Haryana Warehousing Corp, took place from March 15 to May 1.
As of May 14, the procurement agencies have lifted a total of 7.74 lakh metric tonnes of mustard. The state government has acquired mustard from 259,400 farmers, with payments amounting to Rs 4,312.52 crore being directly transferred to their accounts.
