Season one covers the period from 1995 to 1999 and draws from real-life events and figures such as Ranvir Sena, left-wing militants, Naxalite groups, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, along with the 1997 Laxmanpur Bathe massacre and the Fodder Scam.

The second season, set in mid-1999, is inspired by real-life occurrences and personalities like the Shilpi-Gautam Murder, Sadhu Yadav, Rajiv Goswami, Shibu Soren, Mohammad Shahabuddin, Prashant Kishor, the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), and the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election.

The third season premiered on March 7, 2024, continuing to reflect real-life events, including the Jitan Manjhi episode.
