  • The AIMPLB called for black armbands to protest the Waqf Bill.
  • Eid should be celebrated as a day of unity and affection.
  • Hussain defends the NEP 2020 against Sonia Gandhi's claims.
  • Political motives should not interfere with education policies.

New Delhi, March 31 (NationPress) BJP National Spokesperson, Shahnawaz Hussain, on Monday criticized the suggestion to don black armbands during Eid-ul-Fitr Namaz, asserting that politics and religion should remain separate.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) had called upon Muslims to wear black armbands as a form of protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill during their prayers. This 'silent protest' received support from AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and various Opposition figures.

In response, Hussain remarked that Eid should be a day dedicated to worship and celebration, devoid of political implications.

“I also prayed in front of the Parliament Mosque, and I did not observe anyone wearing a black armband there. Eid prayers follow 30 days of fasting, marking a day of joy,” he conveyed to IANS.

He underscored that prayers represent devotion, while donning a black armband equates to conveying a political message.

“The prayers were held peacefully nationwide. People are celebrating Eid with happiness. This day encourages everyone to come together, as Eid symbolizes love. We should all coexist with kindness and unity. I wish the entire nation a heartfelt Eid,” he expressed.

The former Union Minister also addressed Sonia Gandhi's critiques regarding the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In an editorial featured in a prominent daily, Sonia Gandhi accused the government of enforcing the NEP without adequate consultation, favoring political agendas over educational welfare.

She pointed out the '3Cs' threatening Indian education: centralisation, commercialisation, and communalisation.

Sonia Gandhi claimed that the government was pressuring state governments to adopt the PM-SHRI model school scheme by withholding funds under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

In defense of the policy, Hussain stated, “The education policy of the nation is commendable, but Sonia Gandhi opposes it. She prefers an education strategy that incites disturbances. It is unfortunate that she is challenging India’s education policy.”
