Nagpur, March 30 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Sunday that a developed and inclusive Bharat stands as the most fitting tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, propelling the nation towards unprecedented progress anchored in his values and teachings.
The Prime Minister, who honored Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, expressed in a message written in Hindi in the visitors’ book, “I feel privileged to have the chance to visit Deekshabhoomi, one of the five 'Panchthirth' of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, in Nagpur. Here, one can truly sense Babasaheb's principles of social harmony, equality, and justice permeating the sacred atmosphere.”
He continued, “Deekshabhoomi inspires individuals to advance with a framework of equal rights and justice for the poor, marginalized, and needy. I firmly believe that during this Amrit Kaalkhand, we will elevate the nation to new heights of progress through the values and teachings of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Constructing a developed and inclusive Bharat will be the ultimate homage to Babasaheb.”
Deekshabhoomi is the site where Dr. Ambedkar, along with thousands of his followers, adopted Buddhism in 1956.
Additionally, in his post on X, the Prime Minister stated, “Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur serves as a powerful symbol of social justice and the empowerment of the underprivileged. Future generations of Indians will forever be indebted to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for providing us with a Constitution that upholds our dignity and equality. Our Government has consistently followed the path laid out by Pujya Babasaheb, and we reaffirm our commitment to striving harder to realize the India he envisioned.”
Dr. Rajendra Gavai, a representative of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, which oversees Deekshabhoomi, noted that PM Modi felt blessed after paying respects at Dr. Ambedkar's memorial.
According to the management of Deekshabhoomi, the structure is designed in the style of original Buddhist architecture, resembling the renowned stupa erected by the Great Emperor Asoka at Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh. It stands as the largest stupa in the Asian continent. Inaugurated on December 18, 2001, by then-President of India, K.R. Narayanan, it is now a major religious site within the Buddhist Circuit, attracting hundreds of visitors daily. Scholars and researchers frequently come to this site to explore the philosophies of Bhagwan Buddha and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
