New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) India’s combined exports of merchandise and services for January 2025 are projected to reach $74.97 billion, marking a 9.72% increase compared to January 2024, as per an announcement made by the Commerce and Industry Ministry on Monday.
The country’s merchandise exports for January 2025 amounted to $36.43 billion, down from $37.32 billion in January 2024.
However, non-petroleum merchandise exports in January 2025 were valued at $32.86 billion, reflecting a significant growth of 14.47% from $28.71 billion in January 2024.
The primary contributors to the growth in merchandise exports during January 2025 include electronic goods, engineering goods, drugs & pharmaceuticals, rice, and gems & jewellery.
Exports of electronic goods surged by an impressive 78.97%, climbing from $2.29 billion in January 2024 to $4.11 billion in January 2025, while engineering goods exports rose by 7.44% from $8.77 billion to $9.42 billion during this period.
Exports of drugs & pharmaceuticals increased by 21.46%, from $2.13 billion in January 2024 to $2.59 billion in January 2025.
Rice exports saw a significant rise of 44.61%, growing from $0.95 billion in January 2024 to $1.37 billion in January 2025, while gems & jewellery exports rose by 15.95%, from $2.59 billion in January 2024 to $3 billion in January 2025.
The estimated value of the country’s services exports for January 2025 is $38.55 billion, compared to $31.01 billion in January 2024.
