Itanagar, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Indian Army has successfully established a homestay in the border village of Taksing as part of the Vibrant Village Program through ‘Operation Sadbhavna’ in the Upper Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh, officials reported on Monday.
According to Defence spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, this effort is a significant part of the initiative aimed at developing border regions. The Indian Army has constructed a double-storey homestay in the remote village of Taksing, contributing to the welfare of the local community.
The newly built facility is dedicated to the community as part of the Vibrant Village Programme.
As per the defence spokesman, the Spearhead Division of the Spear Corps executed this project to enhance community welfare, create sustainable livelihood opportunities, and foster border tourism in the area.
The homestay is anticipated to serve as a stable source of income for residents while boosting tourism infrastructure in this strategically vital border region, he noted.
Lt Col Rawat mentioned that the initiative has been positively received by the local villagers, who have expressed gratitude for the Indian Army's ongoing dedication to inclusive development and civil-military cooperation in these remote and border areas.
This project embodies the spirit of “Seema Suraksha ke Saath Sabka Vikas & Sabka Vishwas” (security of borders along with development for all and trust of all), highlighting the Indian Army's commitment not only to protecting the nation's borders but also to significantly contributing to the socio-economic development of border communities, the spokesman added.
Operation Sadbhavana (Goodwill) is a longstanding military-led civic action initiative, primarily in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Northeastern region, aimed at winning hearts and minds by addressing socio-economic needs through education (Army Goodwill Schools), healthcare (medical camps), infrastructure development (water, power, roads), and empowering women/youth through vocational training, thereby countering alienation and promoting national integration.
