Jerusalem, June 15 (NationPress) The Israeli Air Force conducted airstrikes on over 80 locations throughout the Iranian capital, Tehran, within the last 24 hours, according to Israeli military spokesperson Effie Defrin. This operation marks the continuation of airstrikes across the Islamic Republic for a third consecutive day.
The offensive commenced at 22:45 on Saturday and persisted into Sunday morning. "The aircraft navigated through the aerial corridor we established towards the heart of Iran," Defrin stated during a press briefing, revealing that Israeli forces also targeted Houthi positions in Yemen.
"Our operations will not cease for even a moment," he emphasized.
Among the targets was the SPND (Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research), a Tehran facility believed by Israeli and Western intelligence to engage in nuclear weapons-related research.
The Air Force also focused on facilities involved in centrifuge production for uranium enrichment and a research center for chemical materials, which Israel claims was utilized to produce raw materials for nuclear weapons. Additional laboratories reportedly housed "unique components and projects that contribute to nuclear weapons development," according to military sources.
Defrin confirmed that fuel depots near Tehran were also targeted.
Since the onset of the initial attack early Friday, over 250 sites have been hit. "Even now, we continue to strike numerous targets in Tehran," Defrin stated. "We aim to intensify the damage to the nuclear program and military capabilities to mitigate the threats to the Israeli home front."
Following Saturday night, approximately 60 surface-to-surface missiles and numerous unmanned aerial vehicles were launched by Iran, according to Defrin, who added that the strikes resulted in the deaths of 10 civilians. A missile launched by Houthi forces in Yemen was intercepted by Israeli aerial defense systems.
The Iranian missile assaults were in retaliation for an Israeli surprise attack early Friday that targeted nuclear facilities across Iran, resulting in the deaths of several nuclear scientists and high-ranking military officials.
As per Iranian reports, at least 78 individuals were killed on Friday, with many more casualties reported on Saturday, including at least 29 children.
