Mumbai, Jan 25 (NationPress) Actor Jaaved Jaaferi, currently looking forward to the premiere of his new film ‘Mayasabha’, disclosed that he momentarily halted his other artistic endeavors to focus on this project.
Throughout his career, the actor has taken on various roles within the industry, yet he emphasizes the importance of adhering to the requirements of each new venture.
In a statement to IANS, he remarked, “As an actor, the freedom you possess is somewhat restricted. I refrain from encroaching upon the territory of the writer or the director. The writer invests countless years in thinking and crafting the narrative, pouring immense effort into it. You might read it and in a single day think, ‘I can do it differently.’ A director constructs an entire universe, and as an actor, it’s not my place to disrupt that. It’s crucial to ask questions like, ‘Why this choice, why not that?’ And when you receive the appropriate response, it’s vital to set aside your ego. They have conceived this character and lived with it.”
He elaborated, “They comprehend why certain actions occur, why specific gestures are made. Beyond that, my role as an actor is to bring this character, as envisioned by the director, to life. If I can introduce something fresh, I will present alternatives. For me, as an actor, it is my responsibility to explore if I can approach it differently. Sometimes, the director might assert, ‘I wrote this,’ and then feel, ‘This is veering off course. He shouldn’t smile. Avoid that gesture as it disrupts the character.’”
‘Mayasabha’ is scheduled to hit theaters on January 30, 2026.
