Why Are Jackie Shroff and Tabu Missing from 'Border 2'?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 26 (NationPress) The helmer of "Border 2", Anurag Singh, has explained the circumstances surrounding the absence of Jackie Shroff and Tabu in the sequel, even though they played significant roles in the initial film.
In a candid discussion with IANS, Anurag emphasized that movie casting is determined by the narrative's needs rather than the reverse.
He elaborated that one doesn't shape a script with a particular actor in mind.
The director remarked to IANS, "The casting evolves from the story. The essence and characters of the narrative dictate the casting process. You don't mold a story around a specific actor. You create a narrative that resonates with you, then consider who might be ideal for the role. It's possible that as you conceptualize a character, an actor comes to mind who could portray that role effectively."
When discussing Sunny Deol's presence in the film, he noted that the 'Border' series is closely associated with both Sunny and filmmaker J P Dutta.
"Before any of us, 'Border' belongs to Sunny (Deol) Sir and J P Sir. So when creating 'Border', it's essential to include Sunny Sir because audiences immediately connect this franchise with him. It’s fortunate that while scripting, you realize a character aligns perfectly with Sunny Sir, but it's vital not to let your creative process be constrained by the need to cast a specific actor. In some films, this approach may be feasible, but for a film like this, it’s not possible," Anurag added.
He concluded by stating that the casting they ultimately chose was the best fit based on the script.
Featuring Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh in pivotal roles, “Border 2” hit theaters on January 23.
