Jaipur, Sep 11 (NationPress) The Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced on Thursday that plans are in motion to rename the Gandhinagar and Khatipura railway stations in Jaipur, incorporating the city’s name for enhanced clarity.
“Gandhinagar station will be designated as Jaipur Gandhinagar to avoid confusion with Gujarat’s Gandhinagar. Likewise, Khatipura will be transformed into Jaipur Khatipura,” he stated during an address at a Laghu Udyog Bharti event in Jaipur.
The minister invited suggestions from public representatives and the citizens of Jaipur regarding the proposed names.
Vaishnav also revealed that, in partnership with Laghu Udyog Bharti, a program focused on electronic manufacturing will commence, aiming to train 5,000 youth.
Furthermore, a collaborative integration centre will be established by both central and state governments in Jaipur to connect startups with the railway industry, providing mentorship and investment support.
“This initiative will materialize in the coming months,” he added.
Earlier, the minister visited Khatipura railway station, where he was greeted by officials and public figures. He inspected the Integrated Coach Complex and Rail Coach Restaurant, and evaluated the model for the coach maintenance facility under development at Khatipura.
The Union Minister announced plans for a substantial maintenance hub in Jaipur, designed to accommodate 12 to 18 trains at once, including Vande Bharat trains. This development is expected to facilitate the launch of new train services from Jaipur.
On the subject of railway expansion, the minister shared that a new Vande Bharat service between Jodhpur and Delhi will be initiated shortly, and another service between Bikaner and Delhi is also in the works.
Additionally, an overnight train from Delhi to Jaisalmer is being considered to enhance tourism in the desert city. Plans are also underway to develop cargo and multipurpose terminals catering to industries.
Efforts are being made to ensure maximum fencing along railway tracks, with initiatives aimed at making major cities in Rajasthan railway gate-free.
“A comprehensive plan for the state has been finalized and will be executed in the next two to three months, providing long-term relief to the public,” he stated.
