Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) — The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), part of the Ministry of Education, has officially granted a research project focused on digital grievance redressal to Pooja Paswan, an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), as announced on Monday.
Paswan's study, titled "Evaluating and Improving India’s Digital Grievance Redress Architecture: A Nyaya-Theory-Driven Mixed-Methods Policy Experimentation Study," aims to thoroughly analyze India's evolving digital grievance redress mechanisms and evaluate their effectiveness in fostering accountability, transparency, and citizen-centric governance, as stated by JMI's Chief Public Relations Officer, Saima Saeed.
As reliance on digital platforms like CPGRAMS increases, grievance redress systems have become vital for administrative responsiveness. Nonetheless, issues concerning inclusivity, efficiency, and outcome-oriented solutions continue to challenge particularly marginalized and vulnerable communities, according to the report.
This research is pivotal in today’s governance context as it merges traditional Indian philosophical concepts—particularly Nyaya theory—with contemporary policy design and evaluation methodologies.
The project aspires to create a theoretically informed model that enhances grievance redress systems in India by combining normative insights with empirical analysis. It will utilize a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative data analysis and field-based qualitative research, while also conducting policy experimentation to pinpoint scalable and evidence-based reforms.
The study's goal is to bolster democratic accountability and increase public trust in governance structures.
This project aligns with national objectives surrounding good governance, digital transformation, and accessible public service delivery, aiding broader policy goals of administrative reform and citizen empowerment.
Pooja Paswan, who is also the Assistant Dean of Students' Welfare at JMI, has over a decade of experience in teaching and research, focusing on public administration theory, public policy, and governance. She actively contributes to integrating Indian Knowledge Systems into modern administrative frameworks and leads the Public Administration Theory Network (PATNET).
