Major Drug Seizure: Police and BSF Recover Rs 12 Crore Worth of Narcotics in Jammu
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jammu, March 12 (NationPress) On Thursday, authorities from the Police and BSF disclosed that they successfully seized narcotics valued at Rs 12 crore during a coordinated operation in a village located within Jammu district.
This operation marked a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking, as the Jammu Police, in conjunction with the 101 battalion of the BSF, made a substantial recovery of high-grade narcotics (thought to be a result of drone drops) worth Rs 12 crore, specifically from agricultural fields on the outskirts of Badadurpur village, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah in District Jammu.
“This area is only a few kilometers away from the India-Pakistan International Border. Acting swiftly on tips received by the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a suspicious package allegedly dropped by a drone, a joint cordon and search operation was initiated by the Jammu Police and the 101 Bn BSF during the evening of March 11, 2026, on the outskirts of Bahadurpur village near the International Border. The suspected drone payload, resembling a bag with a rope and hook, was found containing small packets of heroin scattered across the agricultural land.
“Given the proximity to the International Border, it is presumed this was a drone drop from Pakistan onto Indian soil.
“Each recovered packet appeared to contain a substance akin to heroin. A detailed recovery memo has been compiled, indicating that the confiscated packets contain a total of 2.0 kg of this heroin-like substance, worth Rs 12 crore in the international market.
“In connection with this case, an FIR No. 41/2026 has been filed under Section 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bishnah. The investigation is being spearheaded by Inspector Rakesh Jamwal, the SHO of the Police Station, under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura & SP Headquarters Jammu.
“Additional inquiries are ongoing to identify both the origin and destination of the seized drugs.
“The Police are meticulously investigating both the antecedent and consequential linkages in this case, anticipating further breakthroughs.
“Jammu Police encourages local citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illegal drug operations in their neighborhoods, especially those living near the International Border.
”Through unwavering public support, committed efforts are underway to foster a drug-free and crime-free community”, officials concluded.
