A statement from the police revealed: "The Jammu Police, South Zone, is intensifying its efforts against the narcotics trade, achieving another significant milestone in FIR No. 249/2025 filed at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. This case had previously led to the confiscation of 3 kg 260 grams of heroin and the arrest of two principal suspects, marking a major success in recent drug enforcement actions.
"In the course of the ongoing investigation, the police team carried out thorough interrogations of Karan Sharma, the son of Gopal Das Sharma, a resident of Jourian in Akhnoor, currently living in Trikuta Nagar, who is among those arrested.
During questioning, he provided information regarding further narcotics stored in different locations. Acting on his information, police retrieved 278 grams of heroin from his scrap shop situated in Preet Nagar, highlighting the accused's substantial involvement in large-scale drug trafficking.
This latest recovery underscores the extensive and organized nature of the drug operations linked to the arrested individuals. The investigation team is diligently working to trace the origins of the drugs, distribution methods, and potential financial backers involved with the confiscated narcotics.
"The Jammu Police, South Zone, reiterates its unwavering commitment to dismantle every facet of the narcotics network functioning in the area. Further arrests and seizures are expected as the investigation unfolds, with numerous leads actively pursued," the statement continued.
Jammu and Kashmir Police, alongside security forces, are conducting rigorous operations against drug smugglers, dealers, and individuals involved in illegal financial schemes such as hawala.
Authorities believe that the profits generated from drug trafficking and other illicit activities ultimately support terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
