Srinagar, Jan 6 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the police in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district announced on Tuesday that they successfully intercepted a truck transporting contraband heroin valued in lakhs of rupees. The driver has been arrested in connection with this case, as reported by officials.

A police release stated, "In a remarkable operation showcasing its ongoing effort against the drug crisis, Pulwama Police conducted a naka check at Litter, where they recovered a considerable amount of a heroin-like substance worth lakhs in the international market."

"During this operation, a truck with registration number JK22B-3175 was halted and searched, yielding 263 grams of the heroin-like substance. The driver, Ather Maqbool Ganie, son of Moqbool Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Waghama in Bijbehara, was arrested on the scene," the statement continued.

"The truck linked to this offense has been seized. Consequently, an FIR under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been filed at the relevant police station, and investigations are underway to determine the source and destination of the contraband, as well as to identify other individuals involved," the statement further elaborated.

Pulwama Police emphasized their unwavering commitment to eradicate the drug issue and urged the public to assist by providing information to help maintain a drug-free society.
