A spokesperson for the police stated that a significant operation targeting drug trafficking led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer during a checkpoint examination, resulting in the recovery of a significant amount of contraband, which has prompted the registration of an official case under the NDPS Act.
“The Pulwama Police detained an individual during the checkpoint at Tengpona Road, adjacent to the Women’s Degree College. During the operation, a suspect carrying a nylon bag was stopped by a team from the Police Station Pulwama. The Jammu and Kashmir Police, alongside security forces, are actively conducting anti-terror operations within the region, targeting not only drug smugglers and peddlers but also those involved in hawala money schemes and other illegal financial operations.
It is believed that the revenue generated from drug trafficking and hawala operations contributes to the funding of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Army and the Border Security Forces (BSF) stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border are tasked with preventing infiltration, exfiltration, as well as drug smuggling and drone activities initiated from across the border.
Drone technology is reportedly utilized by terrorist organizations, supported by Pakistan’s ISI, to transport loads of arms, ammunition, cash, and narcotics into India, thereby furthering the agenda of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
