Jammu, Jan 9 (NationPress) The police in J&K’s Jammu announced on Friday that they have apprehended an accused and seized arms and ammunition as part of an investigation into a narco-terror case.
As part of its ongoing efforts to combat narco-terror networks under Operation Sanjeevani, Jammu Police's South Zone has made significant advancements in this high-profile case that was initially uncovered by Police Station Gandhi Nagar. This case involves a narcotics and arms syndicate operating across districts, states, and international borders, following a thorough and professional probe.
On November 14, 2025, Police Station Gandhi Nagar had registered FIR No. 249/2025 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act & 111 BNS after two individuals were apprehended during patrols, leading to the discovery of a sophisticated narco-terror module.
“Throughout the investigation, several individuals were arrested, including drug peddlers, financial facilitators, and those aiding from within jails. Authorities recovered over 4.95 kg of a substance resembling heroin, three pistols, live ammunition, and a modified vehicle, revealing international connections,” the statement detailed.
“In the ongoing thorough investigation, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), supervised by SP City South and SDPO City South, has apprehended one more suspect. On January 3, the accused, Rohit Kumar alias Makhan, son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Raiyan Kotliyan, R.S. Pura, Jammu, was arrested. Following this, on January 7, based on information provided by the accused, the SIT conducted a search at his residence in Raiyan Kotliyan, R.S. Pura, resulting in the recovery of: One pistol (Px5 Storm Beretta, .30 bore), one magazine, and three live rounds,” the statement confirmed, adding that the seized arms and ammunition have been secured.
The accused remains in police custody, and further inquiries are underway to determine his precise involvement, as well as the backward and forward connections and routes for arms supply.
“Efforts are being intensified to identify and arrest remaining associates, trace financial and logistical channels, and establish comprehensive cross-border and interstate connections. The Jammu police remain steadfast in their commitment to dismantling narco-terror networks, neutralizing criminal organizations, and ensuring the safety and security of the youth and citizens of Jammu,” the statement concluded.
