Jammu, December 2 (NationPress) - In a significant law enforcement action, two notorious criminals have been apprehended in Jammu, with authorities recovering three country-made pistols, ammunition, and a sharp-edged weapon from their possession, according to police reports released on Tuesday.
As part of a relentless effort to combat criminal activities, the Jammu (Rural) Police made these arrests in separate incidents under the jurisdiction of Police Station Domana. The police statement detailed the recovery of three country-made pistols, both live and used cartridges, alongside a sharp-edged weapon.
The police also reported an alarming incident where, during the night of November 28, an unidentified individual discharged a firearm inside Grand Reeves Banquet Hall, Udheywala, instigating chaos among attendees. In response, an FIR was registered under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Domana. A dedicated team led by Inspector Varuneshwar, the Station House Officer, successfully arrested the suspect, Sunny Sharma, a resident of the Marh area.
Following Sharma's arrest, police recovered two country-made pistols and live/fired cartridges. Investigations revealed he was also connected to another case at PS Kanachak.
In a separate incident, on November 29, police set up a 'naka' checking point at Bhagwati Nagar, Pounichak. Here, probationary sub-inspector Amreek Singh detained a suspicious individual, identified as Jaskirat Singh alias Sanam, who resides in Camp Gol Gujral, Jammu. Upon searching, they found a country-made pistol and a sharp-edged weapon known as Toka.
Subsequently, FIR No. 251/2025 was registered at Police Station Domana under Sections 3/25 and 4/25 of the Arms Act. Further inquiries revealed that the accused was already implicated in two other cases, one at PS Domana and another at PS Nowabad.
In a recent development, last month, three individuals were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for possessing marijuana, with over 2 kg of contraband seized during the operation.
