Six Individuals Detained Following Shooting Incident in Jammu City, J&K

Jammu, Dec 12 (NationPress) Six individuals were detained on Thursday in J&K’s Jammu city for discharging a country-made pistol at a man, allegedly with the intent to end his life.

The police reported that the shooting occurred on Tuesday when the accused fired at the victim and subsequently hurled him from a height of approximately 60 feet near Ring Road Kunjwani on the city’s periphery.

According to a police spokesperson, locals promptly transported the victim to a medical facility. A case has been filed under applicable legal provisions at the Bishnah police station, and a specialized team has been established to apprehend the culprits.

“All six suspects were apprehended within 48 hours of the occurrence. They admitted their involvement during questioning, leading to the recovery of a country-made pistol. The vehicle utilized in the crime was also confiscated,” the spokesperson stated.

Historically, Jammu city witnessed gang wars where two infamous criminal factions employed mercenaries to attack each other’s interests during the 1960s and 1970s.

Although property-related disputes have resulted in stabbing and shooting incidents in Jammu over the years, the frequency of such criminal activities has significantly decreased.

As J&K grappled with issues related to terrorism and drug trafficking, routine crime went largely unmonitored for many years.
