Srinagar, June 21 (NationPress) - On Saturday, the J&K Police took a decisive step by attaching the properties of terror handlers operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the Kupwara district.
A statement released by the police indicated that this significant action is part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and anti-national activities. The Handwara Police, under the jurisdiction of Police District Handwara, attached immovable properties belonging to two suspects from Monbal, Handwara, who are implicated in a prolonged terrorism case.
“This attachment aligns with FIR No. 198/2003, registered at the Handwara Police Station, and involves stringent legal provisions that include Sections 13 & 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Sections 2/3 & 3/4 of the Explosives Substances Act, and several sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC),” the statement revealed.
The police further clarified that this property attachment was executed following a court order dated June 20, 2025, in accordance with Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which grants authorities the power to seize properties belonging to proclaimed offenders.
The individuals whose assets have been seized are identified as Mohd Shafi Bara, son of Sawariya Bara, and Ghulam Mustafa, son of Alif Ud Din, both residents of Monbal, Handwara.
According to the police, both accused have fled to Pakistan and are actively engaging in terroristic activities, coordinating attacks from across the border and instigating multiple incidents of violence in the region.
“The Handwara Police is resolute in its commitment to pursuing rigorous and sustained actions against all individuals and groups involved in anti-national and terrorist activities. Additional legal measures are currently in progress,” the statement emphasized.
Following the attack in Pahalgam on April 22, security agencies have intensified operations against terrorists, their Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
