Srinagar, Dec 12 (NationPress) – The Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch announced on Friday that they have submitted a charge sheet to the court against an individual accused of forging his date of birth to obtain a regular position in the Public Works Department.
A statement released by the Crime Branch of Kashmir detailed that the Special Crime Wing took decisive action against fraud, forgery, and evidence tampering, presenting the charge sheet in case FIR No. 07/2022 under sections 420, 468, 471, 201 RPC before the Hon’ble Court of CJM Handwara on 11.12.25.
The investigation was initiated following a request from the Under Secretary of the Government Public Works Department (R&B) regarding the fraudulent date of birth of Abdul Rashid Lone, son of Mohammad Ahsan Lone, a resident of Chogal Handwara, employed as a Helper in the R&B Department.
Upon receiving the complaint, an inquiry was launched by the Crime Branch, Kashmir. During this inquiry, it was discovered that the accused had fabricated a medical certificate indicating a birth date of April 1, 1968 to gain undue regularization within the department.
However, discrepancies arose as the date of birth listed in the medical certificate contradicted the records held by the school, which documented the birth date as April 4, 1950. Consequently, a formal case was registered as FIR No. 07/2022 U/S 420, 468, 471, 201 RPC at P/S CBK, and an investigation commenced.
The investigation revealed that the accused engaged in a criminal conspiracy to create a fraudulent date of birth certificate for his illicit regularization in the department. The findings established prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery, evidence destruction, and conspiracy. The charge sheet has now been submitted for judicial assessment. The Special Crime Wing Kashmir emphasized its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against record falsification and fraudulent attempts to gain government advantages, vowing to uphold the rule of law through thorough, transparent, and uncompromising investigations.
