Jammu, Jan 20 (NationPress) The police in Reasi district of J&K announced on Tuesday the initiation of a crackdown on breaches of SDM’s orders, leading to the booking of several individuals for non-compliance.
In an official statement, the District Police in Reasi emphasized their commitment to enforcing tenant verification regulations and adhering to lawful directives.
During a recent verification operation at Daba Morh, Police Post Banganga discovered tenants residing without the required verification at the property owned by Chain Singh, son of Deepti, from Jadsarkote, Udhampur.
An FIR No. 30/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS has been filed regarding this incident.
In another operation along the SMVD Track, an unauthorized pony operator, Shabir Khan, son of Nasib Ali from Jandial, Jammu, was apprehended for operating without a valid registration card.
He has been charged under FIR No. 28/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS. Additionally, at Kakryal, Nazir Ahmed, son of Din Mohammad from Kun Kanyala Panthal, Katra, was found to be housing tenants Sajad Ahmed Dar and his spouse Daisy Jaan without verification, resulting in FIR No. 29/2026 U/S 223 BNS.
Furthermore, Onkar Singh, son of Krishan Singh from Chamba Chandwa, Katra, was detained under Section 355 BNS and penalized by the Hon’ble Court.
The operation was led by the in-charge of police post Banganga PSI, in collaboration with the in-charge of police post PP Kakrayal and the SHO of the Katra police station, under the vigilant supervision of SDPO Katra and SP Katra.
SSP Reasi reiterated the importance of strict adherence to tenant verification norms among all landlords and service providers. Non-compliance will be met with serious legal consequences.
In addition, police in Srinagar and Jammu districts have also taken action against several homeowners, hotels, lodgings, guesthouses, and homestays for accommodating guests, including foreigners, without following proper procedures.
