Srinagar, June 11 (NationPress) The Central Government has approved a significant package of Rs 4,224.23 crore for 316 road projects in Jammu and Kashmir under PMGSY-IV. This marks the largest funding allocation for the union territory since the inception of the national rural road development initiative.
Through the PMGSY-IV programme, rural areas with populations as small as 250 people will receive road connectivity, covering a total distance of 1781.33 km.
The majority of these 316 road projects will primarily benefit the Jammu division, which has historically faced connectivity challenges compared to the Kashmir division.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stating that the sanctioned 1781 km of road infrastructure will significantly enhance rural connectivity and herald a new era of development in the remote regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
