Bengaluru, Dec 27 (NationPress) On Saturday, authorities apprehended three individuals for reportedly chasing and harassing a young woman motorcyclist over several kilometers in Bengaluru.

The suspects have been named as Shaiek Roshan (19), from Begur, and Shaiek Ayan (19), hailing from Old Gurappanpalya in BTM Layout. Both are employed at a local chicken shop. The third individual, Shaiek Rihan Khan (18), resides in BTM Layout and works at a garage.

The incident gained attention after a video circulated widely on social media, sparking serious concerns regarding women's safety in the city. A whistleblower, identified as Abhinav Vasudevan, posted the video on the social media platform X, tagging the Bengaluru Police and calling for prompt action.

After sharing the nine-second clip, Abhinav stated, “I witnessed a girl being harassed by a group of men over several kilometers on a main road, shortly before 10 pm. I recorded the video as proof and intervened, prompting them to flee immediately.”

Responding quickly to the report, the Sadduguntepalya police arrested the suspects and confiscated the motorcycle utilized in the incident.

In a statement, the Sadduguntepalya police confirmed, “An FIR has been filed, the suspects are in custody, and legal proceedings are underway.”

The video depicts the three suspects riding a motorcycle without helmets, pursuing the woman on a scooter while allegedly making inappropriate remarks.

According to police reports, the harassment occurred in the BTM Layout vicinity around midnight on December 25. The woman, who was wearing a helmet, was riding her scooter when the three young men on another two-wheeler trailed her for nearly two kilometers.

Authorities reported that the suspects exhibited reckless driving, intentionally swerving in front of the woman's scooter to obstruct her path while continuing to chase her.

Meanwhile, Abhinav Vasudevan, who was driving behind the woman, noticed the harassment, recorded the incident, and subsequently shared the video on X, tagging the police.
